I did. Promo pack went out last week. I'm sure 1000's of other drummers did the same thing. It was announced on our local radio station. A friend called me to let me know. Smash Mouth was asking for promo packs on their site.. Whether I get an audition or not will be based on the package I sent which included a picture, bio, CD and VHS tape.

From "Smashmouth.com" "A Message To Our Fans... After much consideration, the founding members of Smash Mouth (Steve Harwell, Greg Camp and Paul DeLisle) have parted ways with long time drummer Michael Urbano due to creative differences. We wish Michael and his family all the best in their future endeavors. As of early March 2006, a new drummer has been added to the line-up. An announcement will be forthcoming." poor freq

I tried..I've tried for a few bands over the years and that's how things kinda happen. Once they hear the guy they want, they normally don't try the rest. Truthfully, I'm much happier drumming in the basement to my Barry Manilow Collection anyways. ;D At the Copa.. !!!!

I'm in drummer's heaven today!!!.. Premier Drums has just issued a limited edition of Keith Moon's "Pictures of Lily" drumset with original artwork from "The Who's 1967 time frame. I have yet to find out about the cost of the kit and if it's even available in Canada yet. It is not an exact replica and in many ways I'm glad for that because drum hardware is so much better now a days but I had hope they would have added the bass drum connectors in this case but the reissue is gorgeous none the less and I'm remortgaging my house to get one.. ;D ;D ;D The Original!!! The Reissue!!!

It seems to be the year of strange band reunions or throw together bands of various famous musicians. Queen with Bad Company's singer Paul Rogers and now "The New Cars featuring guitarist Elliot Easton and keyboardist Greg Hawkes have drafted Todd Rundgren to front a new version of the band, appropriately dubbed the New Cars. The lineup is rounded out by singer/bassist Kasim Sulton and Tubes drummer Prairie Prince. A live album has been recorded and they will be on tour with Blondie shortly.

Hey Freq!! Didnt Kasim Sulton play with Todd Rundgren when he had his band Utopia going?

Good Question. I'm not sure. I'm not familiar with the band Utopia. I did find a few downloads of the New Cars and Rundgren sounds a lot like Ocasek from the original Cars.
