If you get a chance to watch their DVD, "Rumble in Brixton" you should, you can rethink your stance on the hair issue. Jeff Healey played here years ago, you may be too young to remember. He's a hell of a player, and a good showman as well.

Ha!, HDG, I grow sass in an old tea pot, that's why it's good and fresh! If I am EVER in the vicinity of that DVD( and this I cannot imagine) , I'll watch it on your rec. But really, how much rockabilly can one take? (and the hair thing.....I'm jealous of men with long hair (including Freq) it's always so much better than mine!) I think Johnny Cash's best work was getting June Carter. That a bad, bad man like him got June away from her uptight, ultra conservative family makes me grin, in a big way! N "i'm not old, I'm thirty-seven!" Terry Gilliam -The Holy Grail

Try playing some of it, you may gain a new respect for it, (At least I did) F.Y.I : I also had long hair when I saw Jeff Healey play. (it wasn't a mullet) Why are you grinning over the Man in Black? Were you "Wooed" in a similiar fashion, by a "Bad Bad Man"? ;D

Play. play, play! Learn, learn, learn! It's listening to too much I have issue with. It's like listening to free-form jazz or classical or hindi music on the radio; good for a while, then just annoying. "Gimme a head with hair, long beautiful hair Shining, gleaming, steaming, flaxen, waxen......." Got a picture? wooed? I was!! ;D I was 15, he was 17: my tall blond Adonis, with his 'Rebel Yell' look and attitude. He spent a fortune on hair gel. My parents were NOT impressed! TeeHee! He wasn't really BAD, but then neither was I, so it was good enough for me. I fell hard. I'm still falling as a matter of fact. Even though he's left that look in the 80's.

Thankfully I have long hair without the ugly mullet influence.. ;D Oh and no gray hair yet.. I must say that I know a lot of guitar players that will not like a certain style of music or guitar playing without even trying it because their ears say.. "ooh that sounds yucky".. I remember introducing a few to Pat Travers and Jeff Beck and Danny Gatton and they were turned right off. After a few years, they came to me and said,, "HEY I just tried this chicken picking style by Danny Gatton and I love it, meanwhile it was the one style and guitarist that I tried drilling into their heads years before.. Guitar players are such a stubborn lot.. My problem as a guitarist is that I love trying all these different styles but I'm just not advanced enough to accomplish them but every little bit helps.
