I'm sure most who know Ray are shocked to hear that this local drummer is battling cancer and has apparently been given a few months to live. Ray has always been a super guy and a solid rock drummer. I was totally blown away by this recent news of his health and talked to him personally not very long ago and he was the same old upbeat Ray and never mentioned a thing. Ray has played in numerous bands including "the Chosen" with ex Wishbone guitarist Jeremey Salatuk, singer Tayrn Bugyra and guitarist Rick White. The benefit fund raiser is sadly to raise money for his final expenses which in my opinion has to be one of the hardest and deepest things I've ever heard of. I'm sure most of us could not be that strong! Why so much bad happens to good people is heart breaking. The benefit will be held at the Canadian Motor Hotel, October 12, 2013 at 7pm. Cost is $25.00. I hope to see everyone there. I'm going to post the Facebook event page. I am not sure it will work. www.facebook.com/events/333461896789404/

Looks like the benefit has been moved to October 11th at The Verdi Hall due to the flooding at The Canadian this week, and because the Verdi isn't booking on the 12th as it's on the Thanksgiving weekend. Everything else appears to be unchanged. I don't know Ray, but cancer sucks, and I wish him and his family nothing but the best, and hopefully the benefit's a huge hit!
Keep up the great work, Glen! I enjoy reading your posts on here, and I hope I'm not alone!

Thanks for the update Rob. Yes, it's sad that another local musician is suffering from cancer or health issues in general. Ray is a great guy and a solid drummer. I hope the benefit raises the money he and his family needs. There have been so many benefits for similar situations this year that's it's truly emotional for so many. Ray is resting at ARCH and has an electronic drumset to play and keep his spirits up. My wife was there visiting a family friend and heard Ray playing so that at least is a positive thing. :-)
Yes, people still read the forum but I only allow certain individuals to post. It's the product of the evil internet and easier to control the naughty posters who enjoy hijacking such forums. :-) Now they can only read the words of the Freq. ;-)
