I can't tell you how sad I am today to learn of the passing of Doug Fieger, singer and guitarist for the band "The Knack". When I started playing drums, this band influenced me so much music wise and drum wise when I was in highschool. I even got to play their song "Good Girls Don't" for my first ever live performance in school with my first band. To me, they had taken the Beatles sound that I live and breath and gave it a Detroit music rock edge that I just found appealing. Obviously I wasn't alone as the Knack's first album was in almost everyone's record collection back then. A huge part of the Knack sound was the drumming and most definitely Doug Fieger's voice along with those great sounding guitars. The band was so tight and full of energy that almost immediately, most of my fellow musicians were copying their look and style. Doug sadly struggled the past 6 years with lung and brain cancer but his music lives on with You Tube. Original drummer Bruce Gary also died a few years ago at age 54 of lymphoma. He was such a huge influence that I learned the first Knack albums inside and out. Such a great rock drummer. Enjoy the sound of The Knack in one of their last live videos.
