It's not just anybody who get's a public lynching and boycott from
his peers. It takes hard work, focus and just a small thing called
"freedom of speech" to send people into a fury. I can't figure out why so many want to follow what I say on this forum. Even the ones that cut me down on other forums come here and read what I create, then copy it and paste it elsewhere. I may be getting boycotted from certain gigs but damn, has the interest grown into who the heck this Freq character is. I can actually walk into a local music store and hear the stories of Freq. It's damn funny. Who in the heck has that kind of time to make Freq this evil yet popular villain |O|
It is true, not everyone is happy I post on here (it's a forum DUH) but just 4 years ago when I left Soonet.. or got banned I should say, no one cared I started this forum. Suddenly, you post a comment on here with a negative slant to it about a really really bad local band and all of a sudden... poof. Half the musicians and the lurkers appear in droves to read. Now 4 years later, a boycott takes place to stop The Freq from playing a concert. People are actually worried that if I play, the roof will cave in. However, a lot of people support me and the bands I play in. They think these boycott bands are just worried that they can't hold a candle to The Freq. They're not talking musicianship or band wise. They're saying for actually having the balls to say what's on one's mind instead of lying in circles like so many do. This boycott is actually history repeating itself. This was tried back in the early 90's with a band I was in. Some remember, some don't but guess what, I'm still here, and I still play and I still get my word out. True, some of the bands I play in don't like what I say or how I say it but most will just state, hey it's Glen's way and we have nothing to do with it, which is the perfect way to be. Just because I'm at the root of an issue doesn't mean my band agrees. Most don't. ;-) I am not sure why others can't see it that way instead of punishing the other members.
Yes, 3 wonderful local bands boycotted the Freq because they couldn't take criticism. I'm not a suck though and boycotting another band and using them as scapegoats just wasn't in the cards for my own insecurities. I have no choice with the odd musicians around that plan boycotts. |O| I take criticism all the time. Here's the deal. It seems these few musicians want praise otherwise, why be such dorks? Then it comes down to, why do these people need my opinion? They're always reading what I say. It must be important to them. Unfortunately, they don't get positive feedback from me. Well, here's the simple fact. Show me you're as talented as say Jay Case or let's see, Ed Young or even Donna Hopper with her photography and I'll give you praise. But why is my praise what some want? I have no idea why it's that important. Oh wait, is it that you don't want me to say anything negative. Is that it? You want me to stay neutral with no opinion right? But that can't be right. Can you just imagine Cheezie Smurfy unleashed in a world of no criticism?? Their friggin heads would explode or just pop off their shoulders|O|
The only way I can truly stop being negative is if you prove to me you're really good at what you do. No, I don't want to hear what your fans think of you. If want me to shut up and stop being negative, show me substance. I know you're going to say .. well Freq, you haven't done anything worthy of spit so you're no authority on judging anything. If that's the case, why do any of my rants bother you?? Also, I'm not the one begging for love and affection. I'm not the one wanting to be worshipped by everyone and everything. I'm not the one looking to be the greatest musician with the greatest band in the land. Some of you lynchers have to be wanting that otherwise, you wouldn't care what I post. Make sense? Probably not.
Personally, I don't want nor do I need popularity. The thing is, I keep getting it |O| and some of you lurkers out there are helping.
Want an example? Requests for my bands CD grew over the past few days out of curiosity. How many CD's did you sell boycotters 1, 2 and 3? |O| NONE? Oh come on.. oh wait, those 3 bands that boycotted us do cover songs.. Awe shucks. Sorry for your luck. Ain't my fault. ;-) The positive and negative works in my favour every time. Now it's making me money. haha Thank you boycotters!!! Of course I could have made more selling the CD's at the concert but now, I don't have to do a thing. You do the advertising for me. I just have to type a rant here and sales happens. What a glorious web we weave eh?
So the long and the short of it is, my forum still goes on. I may lose a band or two in the process but in the end, I get to write more of my own music and put it online. I don't have to play it live. Didn't I mention that many times before? Aren't you sick of me reminding you? A small boycott will never hinder my goals |O| Of course a lynching like the one in the photo would put a damper on things but if you notice in the photo, the evil doers are looking up. The Freq is always on top.. HA!
