I finally got my MOTU 24 I/O interface which has the ability to record 24 analog tracks into my l'il computer :-) I'm going to set it up on my days off so I'll let you know how this baby performs. I have wanted to be able to separate all my drum mics to separate tracks withing Sonar, my recording multi track software. This is supposedly the answer to my prayers. I've always got pretty good drum sounds but unfortunately, the way I "was" doing it only allowed the drums to be on one track as a whole. I always believed if you could get a solid drum sound on one track first, you'll really get it nailed down when you spread it to multitracks. I'm at that stage now. I've not been happy with any of the drum sounds I've gotten in other peoples studios.. Far too many effects and compression. The engineers just don't capture my drum sound which a Yamaha Recording Kit sounds great on it's own. So, I hope the Motu unit is the answer I'm looking for to be able to edit each part of the kit which has been a major draw back on my past recordings.
I'll let you know how it works. ;D

So how did it work out?
I've never been a fan of compression on drums. Takes away the whole dynamics that drums are supposed to add to a piece.

I've got the new system up and running but I'm going to upgrade my operating system to Windows 7. I haven't tried recording my kit yet but with this system, I know I'll get the results I've longed for. I'll keep ya posted Shortz.
