This band is one of my top favs lately. I heard about them through Ty Tabor of King's X and have just been slowly but surely exploring their back log of tunes. They just recently released a Live DVD recorded in Chicago. If you love music with dynamics, edge, groove and a lot of depth, check these guys out. If you're a drummer, you will be amazed by the talents of Gavin Harrison who is absolutely fantastic on this live DVD. This guy came out of no where yet his chops on the drums are not to be denied. He joined Porcupine Tree in 2002 and has given the band so much more colour and drive to their music. Porcupine Tree is what I consider to be the new generation of "Progressive Rock" in the vein of Yes, Rush, Pink Floyd, UK and others. It's so cool to hear a band play amazing soft and mellow and then within the same song, kick your teeth in with a killer groove. Check out Porcupine Tree's Live DVD "Arriving Somewhere".
