I'm looking for a luthier. I have in my possesion a guitar that belongs to a friend of mine who one day said to me: 'you play the guitar?, I have a guitar! I got one when I was 10, I had a few lessons and it hung around the playroom back home forever. I'll get it out of my closet.' My friend is now 40, and you have to know she's the oldest of 10 kids. I didn't expect much, knowing she only got it back from her parents house a few years ago. She pulls it out of the closet and it's in one of those naugahide(sp?) headstock-in-first kind of bags. And that bag is grossly dirty. I pull the guitar out and note that it's in one piece, and a classical. I look in the soundhole and it's a Yamaha, made in Japan! I don't know a whole lot about guitars, but I know that when they were made in Japan back then, they were made well. This instrument seems sound, but I'd like to get it looked at. I see it's been taken apart by someone, the tuning keys have been taken off and put back on upside down. So now that I'm learning to play, I'd like to have this guitar looked at. It has awesome sound. I can use it to learn classical and my other for all other styles. so after all that.....Do you know any luthiers? any help would be appreciated. thanks
