Well, I heard from a friend of mine that works Glow's bar that the band Stifflers Mom got cancelled for this weekends gig. Madison's main owner (father of the son who runs Glows) has apparently canned his son and the band for this weekend. After advertising and paying the cost of that, you figure he'd just run with it but being the PR he is, he has given himself yet another mark against himself and his bars.
When will these bozos ever learn. Flat Stanley had problems with load in times when we played there the second time. First time he was great but the owner was totally different the second time. Very puzzling. We did good for him ta boot.. Doesn't seem to phase this guy for some reason. I got the impression that he was a power tripper. I dunno. He's definetly going to learn the hardway I guess.
I also heard in the rumour mill that Foggies was sold. This will probably not be a good thing either and I can foresee problems for bands. When John had it, you at least knew there was going to be a variety of bands from different age groups. Now, the future there is unsure. Cross your fingers. We're down to one bar catering to band folks. Is that not a sin? One! That's Docks who have done things the smart way which is have a DJ in one section, bands in the other, with a restaurant in the middle. Musicians, I think we're seeing the beginning of the end of live bands in the Soo for a while. Sure, there is Lop Lops and the Oddfellows but both cater to specific crowds and not general entertainment. It's still a pretty sad thing to see. Why don't people enjoy live bands anymore?
