First, singer Davy Jones of the band "the Monkees" died of a heartattack at age 66. I love this band and they were one of my early influences to becoming a musician back in the day. The funeral for Davy happened last Wednesday but there will be other celebrations of his life at later dates in New York and England. Ron Montrose of the band Montrose has also died after a battle wioth cancer. Jerry Gaskill, drummr for the band "King's X" is recovering after a major heartattack a few weeks ago. After extensive surgery, he is recovering and is in good spirits. Bass player Dug Pinnick is posting updates on Jerry's recovery on Facebook. Their tour scheduled to start soon, is off for now. This is quite understandable. Jerry is not only drums but adds some of the bands killer harmonies. Van Halen's new album "A Different Kind of Truth" is nearing gold status. I like it but reviews seem to be mixed. For me though, it's the album that should have followed their "1984" release so I'm a happy camper since I was never a real fan of the Van Hagar days. In local news, Joel Polluck (guitarist/ songwriter) will be back with the Floyd Lee blues band for some summer dates in the Canadian west. Their movie "Full Moon Lightning is still making waves among fans new and old. For more info on the band and dates, venture to Joel's website here. www.amoglarecords.com/That's it for now.
