"Evil Tuba" is the 3rd collaboration between local guitarist/songwriter Mike Cliffe and yours truly, drummer/ bassist Glen Thomas. These unique songs are done completely via the internet where each of our parts are recorded in our own home studios and then our parts are gathered and put together by Mike for the final layout. Mike writes the original rough draft and presents it to me for any added input. Then Mike creates a ghost or guide guitar part with a click track and sends it to me. I then add my drum parts following his rough draft. Depending on the song I either add the bass track at that time or in this case with Evil Tuba, Mike redid a tighter guitar track with my drums then sent the file back to me where I then added the bass guitar line. From there, Mike added more guitars and I added tuba lines as a comical interjection to this tune. The song revolves heavily around the time signiature of 7\8 so if it feels goofy, that is while. I created a 4/4 polyrhythmic drum and bass section for the intro and end sections while Mike maintained the 7/8 part just to create a sense of tension but then the song continues on with all parts following 7/8 for the middle sections. Miike and I love creating music in odd time. Here is "Evil Tuba", our first song of 2011 with many more to come. As always the song is free to listen too. Copy the link and send the song to all your friends. ;-) www.reverbnation.com/play_now/song_7035426
