Yes, it's been a while since I've had the chance to post. While I was gone I put this site on lock down but it seems viewing is up. Everyone loves gossip I guess.
First, the rumours of my death, even though I look and feel dead, have been greatly exaggerated and although some may have cheered for it, I'm still here. :-) There have also been a number of other rumours that we will make note of in this post and we will see if we can get to the bottom of them.
Obviously, I'm not dead so that rumour is just that.... a rumour.
There is a rumour that CD Plus is closing. This is true, in fact, it is closed already along with other stores across Canada. I loved this store and will miss it and the awesome staff.
Local Band, Bar and Event Rumours.
Well, lots of rumours that Gsis Murphy have thrown in the towel but still no confirmation except third hand info I got through connections with their drummer. Remember him? Mr Worm who I stuck up for who in turn snubbed the Freq. tsk tsk. Naughty boy. Rumours of the Cheezie Smurphy breakup are apparently do to sexual disfunctions within the band... or so I've heard. :-) Did anyone actually think they could live out their "Beat the Freq" campaign and survive without ridicual? Of course, it could be something we've not even thought about like maybe, just maybe, they realized that they do actually suck as musicians and that doing Journey covers is not impressing anyone but themselves. HA! My prediction is that these worms are in a basement trying to reinvent themselves once again and while doing so giggling like little school girls saying, "tee hee tee hee wait t'ill they see us now". Take it from the Freq, these slimes are sleazing a new image. Their old one died pretty damn good eh? haha. R.I.P. "Band of Chins".
Hmmm rumours of Thin Ice seem to be false as I got an invite for a show recently but again, no solid facts on that.
Garden of Bedlam are apparently done their CD. The Release of this awaited effort is not known yet but coming soon.
Yes, Miguel of Stereo Soul studios has closed up and moved to L.A. to seek fame and fortune. All the best to him. I am not sure if he finished
up his work load before going or not but he is gone.
Wishbone band news is interesting and some I won't post just because
it's personal stuff but no the band has not broken up, and yes, they have a new drummer who is T.J. Case. The band has had a few shows with the new lineup. The 2nd album has been dropped according to rumours but I did attain a copy. With Wishbone 2 seeing no release, the songs will be a HUGE collector piece for for fans. Well, maybe not. |O| None the less, if you want to hear some of the tracks I drummed to on both Wishbone albums 1 & 2, head over to my personal Wishbone Tribute site for a listen here >>>>. www.myspace.com/wishbonemuzic Yes, their main site stinks so visit mine. It's prettier. :-) The band is apparently working on Wishbone 3. Knowing Dennis, their lead vocalist, he's a writing machine and has more than enough for 2 more albums. Great talent and musician.
Flat Stanley... my band. Wow, have rumours been flying around about us. Yes, Jim is no longer with us and no we're not finished just because he left. He had not contributed much in his last 2 years so those rumours are false. Yes, we are having guest singers on our 20 song CD and 10 singers have already said "OK" to performing. As to the questions on whether I fired Jim or he quit, the truth is, we the band had a meeting to give him a chance to pull up his socks or leave as he was sadly wasting our time. He chose to leave for the second time. There won't be a third. We've had many offers for a replacement but at this time, we are focusing on our CD and getting it finished. 10 songs are finished and recorded except for vocals and the rest are about to be recorded. As for the rumours of me being a prick to work for, wellllllll, if you contribute and do you work, don't make excuses and don't have a drug or alcohol problem, you'll easily enjoy being in a band with the old Freq. Those who were in a band with me and that have ill feelings either, didn't pull their on weight, screwed me over and got sacked, couldn't cut the mustard as a musician OR were just a big sucky baby who didn't get their own way. As for the sucky babies.... where are you now? Just curious. :-) My band Flat Stanley is still on a mission and we still enjoy what we're doing and we're not going away any time soon.
As for the rumour of me getting signed, well not exactly however, it is true that A & R Select (arselect.ning.com/) has approached me via my Reverbnation Music site (www.reverbnation.com/glenthefreqthomas) about some of my music, more specifically a song I wrote and recorded called "Tree Root". Their interest in the song is for sound track use. Although I have been talking with their director Alan Bloch, I have not decided on what I want to do yet. My main focus is and always has been music for Indie films but if something positive happens I will let you know.
Rumour of the band Browbeat having yet another line up change? TRUE. Dutch from the band Browbeat seems to have put together his most exciting and promising lineup in a while and you can visit them on Reverbnation or on Facebook or at a local bar near you.
Yes, the rumour of both Iron Maiden and Rush coming to the Soo are still flying and still no solid word if this is true or not.
Yes, rumours are true. Local band Kallie Mattson have a new album coming soon.
Yes, local band Huckster have lost their rhythm section but the writing and vocal core of Krista Nolan, Sean Halliday and Chris Aslett remains in tact and you will see them doing 3 piece acoustic shows from time to time locally if you haven't already. No word if they seek a replacement drummer or bassist. Yes, this is the band I recorded drums for on their debut album "Designed For Real Life".
Visit my tribute site where you can listen to their music. www.myspace.com/hucksterband
Rumours about Mike Cliffe being an extremely gifted local musician are true and you can absorb some of his musical expressions on his Reverbnation site here>>>. www.reverbnation.com/mikecliffe
If you don't think so then you've been a Gsis Murphy fan far too long. |O|
Rumours that the band "Turner Up" have taken all the bookings in the Sault and have left the rest of us out to lunch are TRUE. |O| These boys love to play that's for sure. AFter changing singers, the ball is definitely rolling for them. Let's all pray they enjoy this local fame and not become the second coming of Gsis Murphy. "crossing my fingers". ;-)
There are a few other rumours coming so stay tuned.
