You may have seen a new banner at the bottom of my forum featuring a graphic link to the website "The Sault Metal Scene". The site is the brainchild of one "Rob Figures" who out of pure love of music decided to dedicate his time to showcasing local music of a metal nature. ;-) He is a 20 year old with the clear hunger to do his research while searching out local bands of the Sault's musical past. He also taps into the BIG world of famous musicians too. His site is well laid out and to easy navigate with links a plenty to keep yourself amused for hours. ;-) Although Rob was too young to witness metal musics growth in the 80's, he has definitely made up time in researching a lot of it's history. So grab a cup of java and click his website link below and check out Rob's site. saultmetalscene.blogspot.com/

You know something Glen, you're way too nice, thanks for the promo!
I've been running the SMS in some fashion or another since July 2007, just simply to get the word out for an underappreciated genre of music in this town. And I value every hit, so check it out, hopefully something will interest you! Like, for example, the Kiss show in December! I'm not looking for overt praise or expecting any special treatment from the SMS, I take no credit for what I present, I just do my research and give you guys the links for the local talent and the upcoming metal shows! And as long as there's an audience, I'll keep delivering updates!

Enjoyable site Rob. There's definitely lots to read. I like the fact you mentioned the Freq in a positive way. He's been my drum teacher for a number of years. The Gsis Murphy thing was pretty funny. We so love them here.
Welcome to Freq's Music Planet. Keep up the good work over there at SMS.

Thanks! I try my best to have interesting stuff, and not just me yapping about nothing. Easy to mention Glen positively, aside from his opinions about Gates of Winter (but that's the fan in me talking!)
FYI, anyone who reads this post, two metal concerts in Sault Ontario this coming weekend: Local hard rock veterans Sykotyk Rampage will be playing at The Outback on Friday night with Dysfunkshunal Kemistry. Tickets are $3 in advance, $5 at the door, you must be 19 to attend. Make sure to have a Sault College student sign you in if you don't go there.
Then Saturday, Garden of Bedlam play their first show since Hempfest when they rock The Canadian! Support comes from rising local metal band Bring The Fallen, who won the YMCA Battle of the Bands in March. Tickets are $5, Bring The Fallen open at 11:00 PM. This is 19+ too. First major metal show at The Canadian since their renovations
Also, Spliff69 will play two concerts in Sault Michigan on Friday: An acoustic show at The Peac0ck Cove at LSSU, then later that night, an electric set at The Satisfied Frog! Should all be good shows, I plan on being at both of the Sault Ontario shows this weekend!

|O|... sorry Rob.. I know you like Gates of Winter. They just don't grab my fancy but then again my tastes are different than most ;-) I'll give them points for their name though.. That's a cool name. ;D I guess our tastes are affected by our generation gap. Simply put... you're young and I'm old. ok.. really old.
