The Bluebird North Songwriters Showcase is held at The Pub at Algoma's Water Tower Inn. It happens approximately every 4 - 6 weeks. Eight different songwriters showcase their original songs acoustically and solo. Come and listen and support local, original music.
I attended the first show last night and enjoyed the musicians that performed. Some of the musicians were, excuse me if I get their names wrong :-), Brian Tremblay, Kt Antler, Norm Rostek, Ed Young, Mark Dunn, Jim O'leary and a few others who's names I missed. The show was all acoustic except for one act that used bass. It was a full house and a great start to what we hope is a regular event. My only complaint is that the sound system was far too small. If you were at the stage edge you probably had a good time but from midway to the back of the pub, I had to fight to hear. Running a 4 speaker system with placement around the room next time would definitely work. They were only running 2 last night. The room is an odd shape to start with but the sound didn't carry at all. Lots of musicians in attendance which was nice to see. Congrats to Brian Tremblay for organizing this event. Hopefully it will catch on.
