Recently our local museum put out a request for pictures, recordings or memorabilia for an exhibit in the near future pertaining to local Sault musicians. Hundreds of photos have been gathered yet more are still needed. I figured I'd help promote the Museum's quest but also help bring back a few memories by posting pictures of a few of these bands from the Sault's history here. I'll start with a local band called "Slaughter House" which my brother was a member.. He was lead singer and a harp player in this band. The band I believe was late 60's early 70's.. I don't know much more about them but I am researching them. I have 2 photos of the band passed down to me by my brother and one other I acquired from a local music store years ago. Any others would be greatly appreciated along with any recordings of the band. The band had a horn section which is a rare thing now a days.

I've been talking to a few members of Slaughterhouse and there's been talk of a possible reunion in the future.. I freaked when I heard that. I'd love to see it. A band with a horn section.. yowza!!

Hey Freq, I recently joined a band with a horn section. Brass Tax. What an amazing experience to play with a horn section!!! We did 1 gig at Lop Lops and New Years at the Holliday Inn. You have to be very diciplined and not try to fill every hole. Some songs I did was just straight time with no fills.

Ya lucky skunk.. I'm very envious.. I haven't played with a horn section since highschool and that doesn't quite count 'cause we were all learning.. Let me know when you guys are playing next.

No tower of Power that I can recall. We did a lot of Chicago,Blood,Sweat and Tears and Lighthouse. We were lucky to have a very talented musician(Carmen Gassi) who wrote the charts out for the horn section and we adapted some Beatle songs and Doors tunes for brass as well. When we were tight and the horn section had a strong entrance your spine would tingle. If ya'll ever get the opportunity to do something with horns you won't regret it.It is a serious rush!

I'd love to play with a horn section. Though I've never even seen a horn section live, aside from highschool bands.
