I'm trying to set up an area for Mp3's by bands around the Soo. If you have links to your band's music, post a link to the sound file here and let us hear your stuff. I am working on getting storage space and bandwith to collect songs and have one page where you can just go down the list and select a band's tune.. Hopefully soon.. Anyways, here's a live recording of a Sault band from back in '99. The band was called "The Crank Shop" and consisted of Jamie Case on guitar, George Ravlich on bass, Jay Gaspetto on vocals and me on drums. It was recorded at Oscar's Den. I found an old recording of Rainhorses that we did back in 1997 for what was to be our 3rd album. The song is entitled "Force of Habit", one of 2 songs completed for the unfinished album called "Turbulence". Sadly the album never got finished and the band called it quits. This track is not on Chris Belsitos site but you can listen to it here. Hopefully the links work.. I'm experimenting with a site that holds mp3's so let me know if the link doesn't work.. From it's early 80's beginnings, the band "Thansis Colle" always did it's own material in the progressive non radio friendly vein. ;D No cover material. The band gave birth to a couple of very different solo artists. Here is the site of Sault guitarist Paul Tikkanen Tikkanen Biography and a sample Mp3 song of his called "The Sky". Tikkanen - The Sky2nd, from the roots of Thansis Colle is lead singer/ guitarist Kevin Closs who took the folk rock avenue and since has become a very well known Canadian folk artist with about 8 albums. Kevin's site! www.kevincloss.com/and on it, you can access a number of sound files from his numerous albums. No MP3's available yet to link here.

Here are a few MP3's by Sault Michigan's "Hogan's Goat", a 3 piece band that play a wide variety of music and styles and feature the great guitar work of Gary Hatch. The band has been around for many years and some may remember 2 of the band members being from the very popular country band Midnight Rider. They are also the owners of Grooves Music in Soo Michigan. www.groovesmusicinc.com/Members are Gary Hatch (guitar/lead vocal), Pache(drums/ lead vocal) and Greg Johnson(keyboards/ lead vocal) Here's a few Mp3's of the band doing a country classic with good ole chicken pickin' by Gary and a southern rock song. Here's a rough studio demo from the band "Crossbreed". It's a long song in the style of the Allman Brothers. The band recorded a full album of demos that have not seen the light of day but hopefully some day they will. The song features quite a few guitar leads by local guitarist "Conan".. Many will remember him from the group"the Second Hand Band". The song is called "Roll On" and it's about a high performance car. Crossbreed - Roll On

Wide Mile Grey is my cousin Chris's band. They've put out a few albums over the years and for lack of a better term, they are very raw but come up with some very original sounding material. They do have a recording contract and play the New York area now. You may hear their music in the odd independant film. My cousin Chris in his youth was a singer for the Saint Michaels Choir. This choir is very famous and no easy task to be a part of.. Of course now his music is in a totally different place now. Here's Mile Wide Grey's small bio page on their record labels site. Yuppers.. For you Sgt. Bilko and Hot For Teacher.. here are a few more Crank Shop live Mp3's.. These are not their tunes, only their versions of cover tunes. The Crank Shop was known for jamming on stage and letting it all hang out for lack of a better term.. The band ended in 2000 after 3 years together. Enjoy! Thanks Sgt. Bilko.. Swing drumming is all over that's for sure.. haha The band broke up basically because we weren't having fun anymore I guess. It's just one of those deals. We were never really accepted here locally. Strangely enough, we were hugely popular in Soo Michigan and outside areas and for those 3 years we played the Satisfied Frog, Kewadin, Sky McFlies, Lake State, and the Sudbury area quite often.. Some places were monthly for 3 year period. They were great times. We never caught on here locally though. You not hearing of us was pretty much the norm.. haha Even the local Sault Star screwed our name up on more than one occassion. 2 members are now with the band Big Suit, I have my own projects and the singer is trying to start something presently but none of us are doing anything like the old Crank Shop band. Good memories and good music but not really a market for it here.
