2016 is here and with just a few weeks into it, I've been super busy especially with music. This is what's happening so far and a few things coming up.
1. I joined the local rock and country band Mourning Wood in late August of 2015 and so far we are working steady almost every weekend locally. At the time I joined, bass player Paul Belair was also introduced to the lineup so if you saw the original trio version of this band a year ago, this is now a totally different animal. All I can say is that this band has been a total blast to be in so far. Of course you never know what the future holds but so far the musicianship is so much fun to be a part of and we'll try almost anything musically on stage. We hope to see you at some of the many shows already booked for 2016
2. My second love is my 60's tribute band "The Peace Vibe". We have been patiently building our song list up of material and booking a few shows in the local area. We've done some charity shows last year and a few bar gigs and starting off January 15/ 16 weekend at Rednecks, The Peace Vibe unleashes it's 60's nostalgia again with it's first show of 2016. Get the vibe from The Peace Vibe. ;-)
3. Flat Stanley in in the home stretch for it's first album which will be a double album. We are presently mixing and finishing off some vocal work. This has been a labour of love for many years and to finally see the the finished product coming to the finish line is a great feeling. We continue to write new music and we are hoping to get a few live shows organized to show case some of this new original music.
4. My recording studio will be getting ripped apart soon and then rewired and reworked. I have been dreaming about this for a long time and it's now going to happen and long over due. I will be posting photos as the project goes along. :-
5. I will continue to post on Freq's Music Planet and promise more input than last year. The people have spoken and they want this forum or what some people call "The Jerry Springer of Local Music", to continue and so it shall
6. I have been so pressed for time this past year having been involved in a complete home reno that a few of my original music projects have suffered. This year you will soon be hearing new original music by me but also my project "The Mourning Glory". I have 2 new songs almost complete and there are 5 new songs coming from "The Mourning Glory". Also, people have asked about more Mike Cliff/ Glen Thomas tunes. One is in my hands as we speak. Sadly, I've been holding that one up because of my schedule. Drums on it or 90 percent complete and soon it will be shipped to Mike Cliffe for final touch ups and mixing. We will have more coming in 2016.
7. I am looking at selling some of my photography this year. Only a few select pieces. I won't be going crazy with this but so many have asked on my Facebook page for prints of my work that I finally caved and will get that going.
That's it for now...
More coming. :-)
