As 2015 comes to a close I want to thank all those great musicians I've had the pleasure to play with this year. I love playing music and my drive to do it has never been stronger. This year I got to play with some of the Sault's best who rarely, if at all, get noticed in our local news rags. Top of the list for me is guitarist Tony Kajnar who for nearly 10 years has been a great friend and co-writer with me on many songs. In all my years of playing I've never met anyone so dedicated to music while trying to manage the most intense life schedule ever. He makes it work and he's also the greatest friend you could ever ask for. He is "the Man"
To all my guys in the band "The Peace Vibe" Dave Chartand, Marty Siltanen and Tony Kajnar, thanks for making this labour of love so enjoyable with your amazing talents and senses of humour. You guys make life so much more enjoyable. Dave always makes me laugh
To the boys in the band Mourning Wood, Terry Eaton, Steven Flint and Paul Belair, thanks for the 5 months of live playing and friendship that has been so much fun that it makes me wish I didn't have to have day job. Without a doubt these guys are some of the best musicians around and they can learn songs so fast on the spot that it's mind boggling. They just make me want to play better. Along with their twisted senses of humour, they always keep things fresh by throwing new songs at you every minute of a gig. I love it. It's like being caught in machine gun fire. haha. These two bands alone have made 2015 such a blast for me and I could never thank them enough for sharing their love of music with me. If that wasn't enough, I've got to do fill ins with other amazing talents in the Sault with the bands Mojo, Havadder and ;most recently Cover Fly. They all made me feel at home while on stage and it was a pleasure for me to play with them. One of the most unique and creative people I've done projects with is guitarist Mike Cliffe. He is to me without a doubt, one of the Sault's most original sounding song writers and someone I proudly call friend.
I also met a ton of new faces in music I never met before at the Toystock concert this year and I'm proud I got to share the stage with them. We did lose some musicians this year, some I wish I had played with but never had the chance. For their families, we all send our thoughts and prayers to you. Music for me would not have been possible without the love and support of 2 people... my mom Rita and my wife Diane. Both musicians themselves, their love and support over the years made it all worth while.
I also want to thank my brother Rick for the influence he sparked in me when he was a musician back in the day. A big hug goes out to Mike Caruso one of the biggest music lovers and local talent supporter I know. He always brings donuts to my auto shop.
Yum!! Now.. last but not least... I want to send a huge holiday greeting out to my musician friends for all the wonderful chats we've had in person and on social media this year. You all make getting up in the morning and living a day in music so much more special I also appreciate those who are always posting new music on Facebook for me to enjoy and absorb, Todd Gordon being the king of that.
I hope 2016 is as much fun as 2015. Last but not least, thanks to all those musicians that donated drum parts and pieces to my Christmas Cheer drumset project. Too many to name. You have the biggest hearts.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Years to all my fellow noise makers in the world of music. Rock on Everybody.
