Sad news on the Sault Ste. Marie home front. Mike Case, local musician passed away yesterday after a long battle with cancer. Mike's musical career covered decades in our home town of Sault Ste. Marie but he is probably best known for his popular band White Stallion. He was also a music teacher and salesman who worked many years at Arnill's Music and later at his own Case's Music store. Mike always supported local talent and he would always show up at music events whether it was his musical style or not and he was especially supportive of youth programs that helped kids discover music. In a bitter sweet turn of events, Mike played at Ray Brown's (local drummer) benefit when he was fatally ill. Now, Mike joins Ray and a number of local musicians who have passed away in the last few years. Tributes to Mike have swamped local Facebook pages and if you spend the time to read them you will see how much he influenced people even in the smallest of ways. There is a giant void left by his passing. Years of music knowledge and talent are now silent and all we can do is honor him in memory. He was a good friend to me and I'm so glad I got to record with him years ago in the studio.
Condolences to Mikes family and friends. We've lost one of the great ones in our local music scene. R.I.P Mike Case
