Yup it's true. "Thin Ice" is the new country band in the Soo hoping to bring back good ole country tunes to the area which seemed to have died a fast miserable death back in 1999. Go figure, we have a country radio station but no country bars or bands. The weekend event that started last night at the Nicolet Tavern showed that there is a great interest in hearing country music again. We'll see how tonights show goes. We have a few more bookings lined up with bigger venues and we'll see if we can continue the momentum. "Thin Ice" does newer country with a few classics thrown in. When I say classics though I mean more of 80's and 90's country along with the NEW stuff. Show tonight starts at 9:30pm at the Nicolet May 24/2008.

Well, first gig was overwhelming with public support. First night was a blast but the 2nd night was even better. No serious train wrecks. Next gig.. June 14 at the Canadian. We're crossing our fingers that our first gig was the start of something positive for the local country music scene.

Hey Freq :)Great show on the weekend. I cannot tell you how impressed I was with the band. The guitarist and bassist just kick everyones ass and they're only 19. Where did you find them? Unbelievable. You have something good there, I hope things keep happening. You singer nailed the Keith Urban stuff and Countrified Soul was amazing. Sorry I couldn't stay longer but I will the next time.

Sorry I couldn't stay longer but I will the next time. Nice to see you at the show. Sorry I couldn't talk more. I just had to get a ride for the wife. She had to leave early. The bass player I found playing at Music Depot. He was playing on a rig there. This was about 2 years ago. I offered him the bass player position in Flat Stanley at the time and he did great but his dad wasn't sure about the situation so I held off on hiring him. He passed the audition better than any other veteran bassist in town. 2 years later, the bassist called me and he, the guitarist and the singer were already hooked up. I just got asked to play. I'm the weak link right now and playing catch up. Response was dyno on the weekend and offers started rolling in the second night. Kinda neat really.

A pic from our first Canadian show. Another fun gig for the "Thin Ice" country band that took us by surprise. Lots of country musicians came out to the show and the audience was amazing. I guess there is a market for the new country music in the Soo. Whoo hoo ;D We had a blast!!

Thanks for coming out Bilko. Friday was really good but saturday was a bit slower than usual but still a blast. We had a few guest musicians come up and sing and that was a hoot. We're at the Legion next weekend. That gig will definitely be experimental. None of us know what to expect but the Legion is trying to get people to come there and has been hiring a different bunch of bands.

Here is Thin Ice at the Legion with special guest Kyle McKey. It was one of those gigs you think would go bad but instead was a real blast.
