thanks freq! it's too bad the band isn't still playing.. I know many who would be totally into it. I wish there was a cd so I could buy it. Did the band ever write any originals?

The band did mess around with original stuff but not much.. We were playing almost every weekend for 3 years and rarely had time for it plus the band doubled as a country band doing front ends (mon, tues, wed) around town. There are a ton of live videos of the band in my collection.. Someday I'd like to transfer them to DVD. Anyways.. I'm glad you and Bilko like the band and the tunes..

Added to the MP3 list is a 60's local band known as "The Amen". Around 1966 The Amen cut a single 45 record with the songs.. "Carnivals and Cotton Candy" and "Peter Zeus". Here are the songs from the original record that I own. Don't mind the scratches.. ;D I've also posted the original newspaper article along with a picture of the actual record on the "Algoma Productions" record label. Enjoy! I like the Peter Zeus song by the Amen you posted. It has that old British Invasion sound. Ever hear of the Easybeats Freq? Try and find a song called Sorry or I could email it to you if you're interested in hearing it. Australian band I think.

Yuppers Bilko.. I've been a fan of the Easybeats for years.. My brother got me hooked on them when I was a kid.. Their big hit was "Friday on my Mind".. I do have the song "Sorry". thanks. Cool tune that I'd love to redo with a band someday. Here's a history tip on the Easybeats.. Easybeat member George Young is the brother of Angus Young and Marlcum Young of AC/DC. In fact if I remember correctly, George was a co-producer of a few early AC/DC records..

More from The Crank Shop for those who asked. This MP3 was taken from video footage of the band playing in the United States around 1999. The song includes solos by James Case (guitar), George Ravlich (bass) and me, Glen Thomas (drums) during the song Mustang Sally, an old classic standard jam tune. The bass solo featuring the humourous beer bottle slide work George was always noted for. ;D I'm kidding of course.. hehe. The Crank Shop - Mustang Sally (guitar, bass, drum solos LIVE)

Diggin through Freq's old archives I found an album recorded by local guitarist Paul Tikkanen. The band was formed in the 80's and got pretty good reviews in Ontario metal mags at the time with comparisons to Rush and others. The song I'm posting is my personal favourite but not the best on the album but it is the most unique to my ears. I'm not crazy about the drumming or the use of the electronic drums but the song is cool. Here is the song "Rollin' Daze" by the band Tikkanen. Tikkanen - Rollin' Daze

A strange instrumental tune by me.. I based the song around a drumbeat that I played on a Roland Pad11 drum module.. Played a single note bass line with a repetitive pattern and added some spacey guitar parts over it.. The song is called "Walking in Cement Shoes". Glen Thomas - Walking In Cement Shoes

ONe of my favourite local singers has been Jay Talifer. I got to work with him in only one band and unfortunately it was all cover tunes. I wish it was original material considering the tunes his band Phatstick is writing now. Good Stuff. I'd say they write some of the my favourite original stuff by a local artist. Here is a demo song that use to be played on their website before the recent release of their first full length CD. The song is called "Forever" and it's a special song to me for personal reasons but it's just a good song. Phatstick - ForeverPhatsticks website: www.phatstick.ca/

whoo hoo.. I finally got a copy of a Patrick Stewart song. This one is called "Come Back Home" from the album "One Road". Pat at one time was a staple in the folk music scene here in the Sault. I've not seen him in years but he was a great story teller. At one time he had the coolest job. He'd ride the Agawa Tour train singing songs from car to car.. He's tag along this little rolling amp/P.A. thing and did that everyday.. His CD's sold well to the tourists on the train. I thought is was such a cool idea at the time.. Anyways, here's "Come Back Home" by Patrick Stewart. Patrick Stewart - Come Back Home

AWE!! Sorry Nezumi... Yes the files are huge to maintain a half decent sound quality to them and low speed internet would take a while.. I'm not sure my song is worth the wait HAHA! I'll try and figure out something for you to at least hear it. I'll try and reduce the file size a bit so it may download quicker.. Can't make any promises.. You may want to try this site and try accessing the song there. www.myspace.com/flattstanleyThere are 4 songs there. 2 of mine and 2 by my band Flat Stanley.. Unfortunately, the sound file part of the site is under maintenance haha.. This just ain't a good day is it... You may be able to get the songs to play later today.. Thanks for joining!! And feel free to add to or give ideas on how to improve the site anytime... NO you can't have my job.. ;D

Freq!
'walkingincementshoes' - liked it alot. I'd even put it in my MP3 player if I could. ( for a while anyway) The 'media putfile' site worked, although it did take about 30min to buffer to whole piece, before I could listen.
'myspace' site, with the FLatStanley tunes, alas, would not work for me. S'okay, maybe later......
As for your job, My IT skills just aren't what they should be, otherwise I'd be in there like a dirty shirt! wink wink, nudge nudge, know what I mean?
