This past weekend and the previous weekend I got a call to do some drum fill in gigs with the band "Havadder" for both a 2 night show at Rednecks and a weekend show at the Rockstar Bar. Havadder's drummer Scott McClurg had a heartattack and had to have surgery immediately following this near fatal heart attack. Scott made his first appearance at the Havadder show at Rednecks last weekend to watch a set of us playing and you could tell he was still weak from his health experience but he was doing fine. Havadder rocked it out as a trio for that weekend and I have video from that show below. I personally donated part of my own paycheck from that weekend to Scott to help him get back on his feet again from being off work. Friday was a bit slow but Saturday was a blast with a great rowdy crowd. Video is from Saturday's show.
A few days ago, a benefit show was held for Scott at the Rockstar bar Saturday night and all money collected at the door, from donated prizes and other games and draws were given to Scott and his family. The band Havadder and I donated our time for free for this Saturday event and with other guest musician's Ed Vowels from Lucky 13, Taryn from Cherry Crush, Krista Marshall, Paul Delavadova and others, we raised well over a thousand plus dollars to help Scott and his family with costs they may endure during Scott's recovery. It was easy to see Scott was overwhelmed by the support from both local musicians and friends in general during his speech when receiving this gift.
For me personally, it was nice to help out someone I've known for decades but also fun to jam with other musicians. For me personally it was nice to jam on stage with Ed Vowels again as we've not shared a stage since our old band Route 69.
Scott will be back on the drumthrone with Havadder very soon. Scott had also taken over drum duties for me in Wishbone when I retired from the band late last year and luckily, he finished recording the drum tracks for their 3rd album before his health issue. Thanks to Havadder for letting me fill in these past few weeks. It was a blast as always. Thanks to all of those great people who put this Benefit together for Scott. It was a success and you should all be very proud. ;-)
Below are videos from both shows. Unfortunately for the Rockstar show, so far all that is available is drum camera footage thus far, but there were photos and other video taken by fans so hopefully we'll see it surface soon. Until then, here are a few vids of what I have.
