There are many products on the market now that feature music without a certain instrument so that you can practice to a wide variety of styles. I discovered this years ago with MIDI tracks where I'd simply mute the drum track in a midi file and play along to it. These days, some artists offer their recordings without a certain instrument which is fantastic. I bought and downloaded many songs that have the drums eliminated from the recordings. It's fun to try and mimic what the original drummer did on the recordings OR just come up with your own parts. This thread will show examples of this. By no means are my versions perfect or what you should do. The idea is to come up with your own ideas and either record or video tape the results. Recording yourself is the best way to critique your own playing. You will see your own flaws just as I have in my own playing.
The following videos are some old ones I did using music that is both blues and jazz based along with another one that is more commercial sounding. These 2 videos are NOT lessons but a way to introduce what I mean. I will have lessons soon using the "Music Without Drums" method.
