Sorry kids.. I forgot to post about the Rotary Fest stage 1 and 2 shows. Well.... truthfully, I didn't forget. I just won't promote stage 1 because the gentleman booking the entertainment.. Yeah.. he screwed a few local bands over in years past and like me, we're a tad bitter.. |O| Anyways, I did go and check out a few bands at Stage 1.
Coverfly was ok. I really enjoyed their drummer. Very tight player with a lot of energy and a beautiful kit I might add. Red sparkle Pearl kit.
Obsession has a new singer and she did fine. Unfortunately, their guitar player was horrible. I was a little embarrassed for them because of his playing. Some people think they can get by with the basics or less but in this band, the other members are so advanced over him, that it left a huge hole in the guitar department. The band definitely needs either a better guitarist or a 2nd player.
Brass Tax were a good band with a horn section. Needed to have some kick ass energy but didn't .. They were entertaining though with some fun material.
It seems this year the best bands were on the 2nd Stage on Queen. The band Big Suit in my opinion were the tightest and I must say their music is good ole rock. Some of the other acts coudn't make up their minds if they were country, rock or something else. I'm just not into that. Good bands though but confusing to an audience.
Cowboy Junkies played and it was obvious some didn't have a clue on who they were. They saw "cowboy" in their name and figured country and western. Yikes!! Great sound was suppled at both venues and it was nice to run into Rav of Crank Sound again. Nice gear !!
I do hope for a different batch of bands for next year so I can whine and complain again.. |O| Check out Sootoday for pics of the event
